Meet Daniel Sommer

Daniel Sommer headshot

Daniel works at the intersection of accessibility, language, and technology, with a strong focus on digital accessibility. With a background in classical music and education, his work centers on communication, interpretation, and making complex material accessible to different audiences. In recent years, he has developed tools and workflows for captioning, audio description, and sign language access.

More recently, his work explores how emerging technologies—like AI—can be used in thoughtful, human-centered ways. He is particularly interested in how tools like ChatGPT can support communication, learning, and connection while preserving the human elements that matter most.
